Hey all, i have been battling this for several years and if you have it you know exactly how frustrating it is....almost to the point of driving you to not shooting.
I wrote a post on here about my woes and was contacted by a member here J-Kid with some very good advice on how to cure it....i am sure he wrote the same for others with this same problem because he is just that kind of guy.
I had remembered that i saw a book awhile back with his name on it....so i looked around and found it. He didnt promote his book at all but i thought..."well if this information is so good i would see what else he had written" Man ole man was i surprised by what he had written and how much our subconscious is really in control when we shoot.
I am serious everyone...you need to read this book. It not only covers target panic but every aspect of shooting a bow. It is so good that i contacted six of my friends who also shoot and told them to get a copy and of it didnt improve their shooting i would pay for the book! I wish i could offer the same here because i believe in it so much.

I can not tell you how excited i am about shooting again....it is like a huge weight has been lifted away and replaced by the joy i once felt.
Hope this helps with anyone else suffering from this!
Lance
Where did you get the book?
The book can be found at 3 Rivers Archery for about $12 dollars
I'm in the process of reading it now!!
I agree totally, I spoke to J-Kid also. He gave me several recommendations and exercises to do without ever mentionong his book, immediately I noticed a difference and ordered the book that same day. I can't thank him enough and as you say the weight has been lifted and shooting is fun again. All it tkes is a few minutes a day or durring shooting times and for me TP has stayed away.
Fred when you click on the book it has a "buy" at the top which is where i bought it. It is $14.00 shipped.
Shortstroke like you said he didnt even mention his book when he gave me the drills to work on....He was just trying to help others out with this problem!
Jay Kidwell called his book "Instinctive Archery nsights" I have always felt he misnamed it. It is a book everyone should have no matter what style of aiming you use.
I have his book it has the best info in it I have found any where. there was a thread on here for a long time. it was something like target panic 100% cure. but he will email you drills to do and not even mention his book. just a super person.
I posted a step by step method on the "hypnotism..." thread that helped me while I had the discipline to stick to it.
Forgive me, can someone describe what target panic is, exactly? Thanks. sb
Thanks for the recommendation, Lance, i just ordered a copy, i'm certainly looking forward to reading it. :)

From Jay's website... http://www.n-sights.net/iai/target_panic.html
Thanks. I had problems at one point with premature release and just huge inconsistencies, etc. I did a couple of things that were noted by others in similar threads---I learned to walk myself mentally through each shot, step by step, and I made myself count to 3 before release. I didn't care about arrow flight or groups or hitting; I just went methodically through the motions of positioning myself at a certain angle to the target, then focus on proper grip of the bow, then raise the bow, don't squeeze the nock, draw the bow and note if my grip is changing as the strain increases, anchor, count, release.
After two or three sessions of only focusing on these steps and then eventually adding the focus, at the last split second, of getting on the target just before release, I was cured.
