Title: rests on a tradbow
Post by: TroutKing on January 21, 2009, 09:11:00 AM
Hello all,

I recently came into the possession of a Martin Rebel Recurve bow. I already have a couple of trad recurves that I use instinctively. However, I plan to hunt turkeys with the Rebel, and I do not quite feel I have the skill to take a small game animal instinctively, yet. I want to put a stick-on, flipper-style rest on the bow, but I would like one that keeps the arrow away from the side of the bow. Do any manufacturers make such a rest? I noticed that most flipper rests keep the arrow snug to the wall of the window. I thought about drilling a hole in the riser to put a bushing for a plunger-rest, but I have heard that will cause stress cracks in the riser. Any help with this would be great.

The trusty Bear Weather Rest is hard to beat. They're cheap too...around three or four bucks, I think. TM

Rather than drilling you can build out your leather pad a little at a time to tune your arrows.  Drilling an old bow is not a great idea.
