Title: 3 under noise
Post by: mscampbell75 on September 08, 2008, 03:06:00 PM
I tried to go from split to 3 under.  My group tightned up nicely.  It feels pretty comfortable.  BUT, I have gained alot of noise that I didnt have before.

Any thoughts!

What do you have for silencers? Did you move your nocking point? I find I need to set my nock point slightly higher for 3 under. Shooting a heaiver arrow will also help.

i shot 3under for a long time and there is more noise with this style. I believe its got to do with the tiller of the bow even if its tillered for 3 under. I switched to split this past winter because of the noise. However 3under works very well for a lot of folks including myself, but in time I'm glad I switched you can quite your bow with as mentioned or try limb savers they work very well. Have fun good luck.

When you go to 3 under you need to retune your bow you will have to bring your nock point up some most of my bows are 5/8"-3/4" nock hight also play with the brace hight change it a 1/8" at a time and find the sweet spot the sweet spot in the brace hight may be a bit differnt on your bow 3 under also move your silencers up and down your string untill you find the sweet spot with them when it is all done 3 under will not be loud but you do have to retune your bow.

I shot again late yesterday afternoon.  It appeared to be much much quieter.   The 1st time I shot, I was in an indoor shooting range with lots of concrete.  The 2nd time I was outside.  I cant get over how my groups have tighten up.

I'm going to experiment a little futher.  I've got woolie whispers.  And my nock is a 3/4.  My bare shafts are grouping right with my fletched arrows @ 20 yards.

Thanks guys.  I can count on you guys to give me some well informed advice.
