Title: Recurve Help?
Post by: BCBubba on April 04, 2008, 11:43:00 PM
I'm looking to buy a new Recurve, Being new to the sport I'm not ready to pay top dollar for a bow till I find one to my liking, Right now I have a hand me down Wing Archery Red wing hunter which is 58" 47#, I have no problem shooting but I feel I could drop a few #'s I recently found a bow that is 62" 40# @28" I am wondering what is the lowest possible # for shooting 3-d's and hunting and if I drop down to 40# would that be too much of a drop? Thanks

what is your draw length?  i dont think 40# would be too much of a drop, but you would have to re-tune your setup.

Mark, when I was measured for a compound bow(which I never bought) my Draw length was 27.

I think the 40# bow would be great for 3d. Probably ok for hunting too as long as it has at least average performance.
