Want to have something to shoot for.
With a recurve, it looks like the best guys shoot in the high 280's to 90's, with about 30 to 40 something X count. I would think anything over 250 is good with a barebow. I rarely see anyone shooting a 5-spot barebow, though. They usually use a single spot in leagues around here. Keep in mind, these scores would almost surely be for point of aim/gap shooters, not instinctive shooters. 250 would be pretty darn awesome instinctive! Paul.
I cant shoot gap style so I guess I am instictive. I look at the target but I see the arrow but I dont feel as I use it to aim.
I think a score in the 240's is pretty good barebow @ 20 yards. I have never seen recurve shooters use the five spot. Everyone I have seen shoots the single spot.

The main reason compound shooters use 5-spots is because of potential arrow damage; I would not have a shootable arrow left after an end if I shot a 1-spot with a compound and scope. Shooting traditional equipment, this is obviously not a problem for most of us! Good luck, have fun shooting indoors, it's a great place to work on form. Paul.
240 or above is a good score. Think of it this way; 240 is a 4 average, the 4 ring is about 6", if you can hit a 6" ring every time on average at 20 yards you're in the kill on big game. At least that's how I think of it.
yeah a 240 is a good average but if you can shoot a 240 then you can go higher, 260s are achiveable with instinctive. you have to get awful repetative and it kinda gets boreing untill that game or two that you cant miss the 5 then it gets fun.
