Title: Anchor points
Post by: snag on November 09, 2007, 04:30:00 PM
I shoot 3 under and have been anchoring my second finger, or middle finger, in the corner of my mouth. I also use the tip of the fletching touching the tip of my nose as another referenc point. I stand square to the target not open. Well, the string has been hitting the right tip of my nose and making it bleed. So, I opened my stance...same thing. I was advised to shoot like the Olympian archers by bringing the string back to hit the tip of the nose and lay the right hand just under the cheek bone. So, this has thrown everything out of whack. Out of 5 arrows I will have 2 bullseyes and 3 who knows wheres! Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Or am I the only freak! By the way my nose is average length!

When I first started to shoot I had the same problem. What I was doing was turning my head into the string as I drew back. I had to set my head before I drew and make my self not move my head as I pulled back. Took a few days, but the problem was solved and my wife would go out in public with me again as soon as th huge scab on my nose healed!

Well, I changed my anchor point to more on the side of my face and also turned my head to face the target more and things are looking up...no more "red nose" syndrome.
