After a couple years looking for an affordable bow and being let down I finally got my hands on a nice longbow.
Hand made in South Africa.
Was really happy with my purchase, with the rising cost of children I had to store the bow for 6 months.
Its a 45#@29 which is maybe a bit heavy for me to learn, but I'm super stoked
Finally found some bamboo arrows, a finger tab and an arm guard from a really cool dealer here in South Africa whose willing to hold stock till payday on the 15th :campfire:
Congrats on your first !
Excellent....
Welcome to the fun side!

Congrats and welcome
welcome :wavey: and have fun
That's cool! What will you attempt to kill with it first?
Thanks very much.
For now I don't want to hunt until I know I can do it ethically. Even if it takes a while I will work on form and consistency.
I have a couple game birds on the property so I will have a go at them to start off with.
You are off to a good start, it's all about having fun.
Welcome Bruce!
Targets, game, rolling tennis balls... its all fun when you get that perfect release and a good shot.
Some of my most enjoyable days have been spent in the woods alone or with friends kicking a Nerf soccer ball. Kick the ball into the woods or across the pasture and everyone takes a shot (we use blunts or target points with washers behind them). Closest shot to the center makes the next kick. Its a great way to practice instinctive shooting since there are no known distances and the shot is always different.
Enjoy the journey...
