Getting psyched for TBOF next weekend. I ordered a Black Forest from Mike last year, and he'll bring it down to the shoot. This one will be 64" and 40lbs @ 30". We worked out wood a couple weeks ago, cocobolo and curly cherry:

Can't wait til March 2!!! My 6yo twin girls and I will head down and hang out with good friends.
These are the days
Never owned one but those bows have always appealed to me best wishes and let us know how she does. You gonna do 600 spine carbons?
That is awesome. Wow I'm getting my daughter a 60 inch.

My 38#@28 Black Swamp takes 400s with 175 up front, so I'll start there. I do want to get into woods though.

Mike always has a batch to sell at the shoot, nudge nudge...
Man that is a good looking Black Forest !!! Looking forward to a few more pictures. Wouldn't mind seeing some of the limbs.

My my, what a pretty bow.
Thats beautiful. I can't remember ever hearing about a 64" length Blackforest. It should be melting butter smooth and very stable.

They are smooth as butter Joe !!! Talk about a great shooting longbow too.
One of the best hybrids around. Woodpuppy I will be down there, we may have to link up.
Nice bow! Have fun with your family and friends. Sounds like a great event.

Sounds good. Funny we're in the same town but have to travel to meet
Another beauty from Mike! That cocobolo is gorgeous!
I have a blackswamp 50# and love it. Bought it pre-owned from a ***********er. I shoot it almost every day. Would post some pics of it but not sure how to do it here.
Looking forward to a few more pictures when you can finally sit it down. :biglaugh:
Love the new bow... met Chuck at the fish fry. Figure I need to string y'all along a little longer, but here's this pic to whet yer appetite!

Just like all Treadway's we can tell she is a shooter !!!
Here's a couple quick pics of the new bow taken while my girls were hammering the hanging fruit bat in the fun range. I need to get someone to take a full draw pic.

Whoops, forgot to do that in the woods. So there's a tile floor in the background...

I wish I'd had more time to visit with Mike, but my kids kept saying "daddy don't go this way" every time we walked from the clubhouse or the end of the fun range towards our tent. When I asked why, their answer was I talked too long... besides, Mike had some bows to sell and other folks to visit with too I guess. After shooting this new bow, I think I like it better than my Black Swamp. I didn't expect that, but that's ok. It's still new too, so hard to tell.
Very nice !!! :notworthy: That bow is a keeper for sure.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mike this weekend. A true gentleman and very fine craftsman he is.
Gregg
Gregg, I'm sorry to have missed you. Keeping up with the 6-year-olds was a full time task! What did you think of the event overall? Did you get a chance to shoot at all?
Beauty! Glad you like it!
How does this bad boy shoot???
It is officially my favorite longbow. I'm using full length GT trad 400s with 175gr points and 3x5.5" shield cut fletching. Total arrow weight ~497gr. Going between a high-wrist recurve and this locator grip takes a few shots to get used to it, but once I find my grip I'm good.
I don't know how to describe how it shoots. Like describing a fine wine. "I like it" doesn't quite seem to cut it I guess. But it's a fine thing to be sure.
Might be a silly question but I can not seem to find a whole lot of info. What is the differences between the swamp and the forrest?
The Swamp has a shorter riser and the r/d is more aggressive. The forest is a longer riser. Mike also makes the Swamp in shorter overall lengths than the forest. Check here for some pics of a Swamp:

I'll try to take some decent pics of the two side by side on my rack this weekend.
Does the black swamp come shorter than 54"?
I have no idea. Sounds like a good excuse to call Mike though

Here ya go 4dogs - comparison pics, both braced and unbraced. The Black Forest is 64", the Swamp is 62". I haven't changed brace height on the forest since I got it last weekend. It could go lower.

I remarked that because I have 54" Black Forest
I'll see Mike anyways at the KY Trad Fest. It is always tempting but my bowrack is yours x3
If he'll make a forest that short, I'd expect he might indeed make a swamp shorter. 62" was as long as he'd make the Swamp for me. Now that I've got the forest I kinda wish I'd got the Swamp as a shorter bow. I guess I ordered them backwards.
I took other bows off the rack to allow for uncluttered pics. I have 9 bows on a 5-bow rack

56-62" on the Black Swamp
54-66" on the Black Forest
Thank you Dave. I appreciate it a lot. I need to make a phone call.
