Just priority mailed a TD bow today. Now they charge $10 more if you want to mark it fragile. I told them they might just chase us all to ups or fed ex.
I've never designated a bow shipment as "fragile" that I can remember.
I'm curious to know how many TG'ers will ship fragile.
marking it fragile really does nothing in the handling. It still goes on the belt and off it goes.
Mike
When you ship USPS PRIORITY there are fewer folks handling the package so less chance for damage. That was told to me by a USPS agent.
Ever do a tour of a UPS sort center?
Yikes!
yep..adding fragile sticker does end up costing more with USPS...not so sure what difference in their handling it makes though.
Sounds like a fragile sticker could be a challenge to some bozos.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Your package might become a baseball or a bat. Saw it on the news here some time ago.
Dave.
Fragile?
Might as well put a "throw as hard as you can" sticker on the package..
I've never had to pay extra for a package being stamped fragile.
That's Highway robbery!
I have gone to using Prioritiy Mail. Lost track of a package I sent to San Jose, CA. Used tracking and found it was undeliverable. Called the USPO and asked why it wasn't sent back? Got a call next day, it was delivered. Guess I rattled the right cage. But without the Prioity and tracking it might have ended up in BFE.
I mark mine fragile all the time and have never been charged extra, same as its been since they last raised their prices awhile back.
Always use priority unless item is pretty much valueless.
My step son worked for UPS for a couple yrs while in school and he said employees that were mad at UPS would take it out on packages marked fragile/do not crush etc.

Yep
Ship Priority mail and if ever possible use a box from USPS they seem to take better care of them
I mark my packages "explosives"... That makes them more careful. LOL
I've had two bows broken in shipping.
Take a look at the USPS site, packages marked fragile. It says any package with a fragile sticker must pay a fee.
Marking a package as "fragile" means that there is some content inside that can break and protrude through the package and hurt a USPS employee. That is what the main clerk in our post office told me and then it makes sense to charge a fee for "careful handling". No bow is fragile in this sense and is best packed in a pic tube which is then put into a square cardboard box. Tubes easily roll off the belts and rollers
I like to mark mine "Ship High In Transit"
I don't think labels on a box make any difference at all how that box is handled.

They probably throw the fragile boxes harder for kicks.

I was a package sorter for UPS while in college and while I never saw anybody deliberately damage a package, most of them got thrown. We were under such pressure time wise that it was the only way to get it done. We didn't even read the writing on any package!
