Anyone used them before? are they like woodsmans?
I have some, haven't shot them though. I think they are made by vpa.
Great heads and super easy to sharpen. Not as long as a Woodsman. When I use a three blade head, it's a Trailmaker.
I've tried em.
Good solid head.
They always whistled for me though....I tried about everything to quiet them up...beveling the holes, little vaseline..etc.
..hard to get a long and lean 125 grain 3 blade w/o vents though.
...and every vented head I've ever shot made a hiss or whistle.
Switched to a heavier solid blade 4 blade VPA and never looked back.
If I was dead set on a glue on 125 grain 3 blade head I'd seriously look at a Bodkin.
I'm sure they're not as tough as the trailmaker, or Woodsman elite...maybe not even as tough as the original woodsman...but at least they'll be quiet and they don't break the bank.
...and I'm sure they're strong enough for whitetails.
I can't figure out why Trailmakers don't have a bigger following.
I have been using them for several years and love them. They sharpen easily, fly great, and always have consistent quality.
I have one in my quiver right now that has killed 3 whitetails and with a little touch up will be ready to go again in the fall.
Never had a whistle with either glue on or screw in. Lots of deer killed and two turkeys.
