I've been making the same drive home from work for 33 years now and today was the best trip yet. Probably had something to do with talking to Jason about a new creation. She'll be a green and Bubinga combo (Bear retro) but instead of white tips and riser overlays he'll apply Bubinga and black. Will be 47# at my 28 and 58". This will be my first build as I've always bought used. EFA will get my next call as Don will craft me a matching green and brown Cochise. I would love to hear from Kanati owners with some feedback! Is it October yet? Possum
I think you made a good choice.
My 60 incher was as good as any forward handle hybrid I have had.Loved that bow.
Love the EFAs as well.Thats gonna be a sweet combo.
Try an SBD 8 strand bowstring with wool puffs sometime on that and see what you think.
Congrats and good luck with her
I've got a 58" 45# with a low grip. I run a 4 arrow EFA on mine. I've had it since 2011. I have been through a few other bows, but I have never felt like I could even entertain the idea of selling my Kanati. It's faster than most of my recurves, and is crazy dead after the shot. I shoot three under and it's quiet too.
Mine is very plain and basic, and is wearing plenty of battlescars and bruises from hard use. But it's still a great bow. I bought a used Helms Deep to replace it, and it's a beauty. But it ain't got nothing on my plain ole Kanati as far as performance.
Here's mine. **Notice the wind checker cotton stuck on the velcro of the EFA quiver straps. :saywhat:

I ve owned 4 now its 2 which i ll never sell. Any questions PM me, george
Well it is about time ol' Possum head get him a fancy new bow!
As the Supreme Leader and Captain of the F.R.O.G Team I was tired of seeing Scout miss so often (every shot), may be the Kanati will solve that issue.
Besides the worn out excuses on why he can't get no new weapon "need new baby shoes, water cooler went outlast night, wife needs to go to Disney", DISNEY! for crying out loud you a F.R.O.G member or not!
Hope it get here soon, seasons about upon us!
Congrats on the new purchase! Can't wait to try it out :)
And about that wife of yours...she was let on the Team and I used that term loosely. To be our PR spokesperson, but she's has turned out to be similar to your shooting, "Unreliable"!
(P.S you might not want to share that last statement with her, if you know what I mean  )
They are easy to tune and make quiet. I recently switched wood arrows on mine.
I notice more good shots and tighter groups with the longbow and wood arrows vs the recurves and carbon arrows I had been using.
Tedd
I don't know what that means. The bow was sitting on a box of matches to level it. Here is another.

Great shooting bows, enjoy!
Nice shot Tedd love those arrows! Is your bow the 60"?
Picked up a used 56" 47# er about a year and a half ago and it quickly became my favorite ( I probably have twenty plus bows). Jason couldn't have been more responsive or helpful with my questions.
My experience is similar to mahantango's. I missed getting on the build list late last summer before it filled up - so when a used 56" came up, I bought it. It went un-shot for close to 5 months as hunting season was underway, so I have only really been shooting it for about 3 weeks. I love it. The grip is the best I have found for my preferences, and it just feels good. Jason answered every question I asked, and quickly. I'll be on the build list for another, and soon.
I bought a Kanati used. A 60" green meanie. The craftsmanship is amazing and it is the most forgiving bow I own. It really is a pleasure to shoot.
Several years ago I had Jason build me a Kanati and after owning it for a while I made the mistake of letting my hunting buddy shoot it. Well after some time in a moment of weakness I let him convince me to sell it to him. I recently tried to buy it back but he wouldn't hear of it, soooo with that in mind just last night Jason and I traded emails and i am now on his build list for this coming July.
Oh no Possum your reckless posting of a new Kanati has contributed to the soon departure of $$$ from Fred!
I hope you're proud of yourself
Come on Supreme, If Fred hadn't bought a Kanati it would have been something else. Fred is a bow addict that needs to come to terms with his obsession! Just glad I got on the list before him :bigsmyl: Does this make me a good bow salesman :dunno:
Fred, Ya care to enlighten us on your new toy?
Possum, Bow addict is such a harsh term. I prefer to think of myself as a bow connoisseur....lol
My new toy is going to be 60" 47#@28" and here is what it is going to look like....

That's EXACTLY what I wish mine looked like! Perfect specs too! I really like that...
The pics are actually of two different bows that Jason built but he's going to combine the riser of one with the limbs of the other for my Kanati.
Fred,
Thats is going to look amazing! And thats probably the best pic i've seen of a Kanati's tip, I like
Very nice. I wrestled between the 58 & 60" but with my 28" draw me and Jason both felt the 58" would do fine. I tree stand hunt only and my lower limb is all I have to watch at times. 1" probably would have never mattered. Was the one you sold your friend a 60"?
You know, I too haven't had a good look at the tips yet and those are sweet. The full black looks good on those but I asked Jason to but a layer of Bubinga under my black tips to accent my riser. He had done the retro Bear white tips on the one on his Facebook photo but I wasn't sure if might stand out while drawing on critters so I've altered it a bit.
I've owned several high dollar bows, but my Kanati is the only one that I have kept. I had a little issue with one of the tips on mine ( after several years of shooting it ) and Jason was extremely helpful, fixed it for shipping and it came back looking like a brand new one.
Jason builds an awesome bow and is an excellent guy to deal with!
I can't I just can't ..... This site is going to push me over the edge !!!! I might need to start doing side jobs again. Kanati , Centaur , Pronghorns and the list just keeps on going. There is so many Awesome bows out there.
Resist, resist Steve, back away slowly from the computer and then run....
Possum, The one I sold was 58" 50#@28". Fred

Nice shot Tedd !
John, give up hunting and go full time as a comedian! Tedd she's sweet. Nothing makes a more beautiful back drop for a Kanati than a dead doe
Mine is supposed to be done by the end of the month.
Black phonalic, black glass, and I tracked down some desert ironwood for the heel and overlays.
I liked my Kanati so much I had to order an identical back-up. Just in case.
A package arrived today. And the bow does not disappoint. It is exactly like the other one. Jason hit the weight perfectly. I can shoot them interchangeably. That repeatability is appreciated! I've always ordered a back-up to any favorite hunting bow that I was shooting and I found It's pretty rare to have the two bows this identical. Sometimes you can't even tune the same arrows.
But this is really nice. I had a string already made up with silencers. I was shooting it just fine right out of the box. Here are some photos.

Those are sweet Tedd, you guys are killing me!
Just got my new kanati Longbow 56" 40#@28", to say I'm impressed is an understatement. I have a lot of bows recurve, selfbow and longbow all lenghts and poundage, from some of the biggest names in the business. but this little bow is at the top of the pile, there is something about a bow you can pickup and know its a killer. The service from Jk is also as good as his bows, I just may be getting on the list for another one!
The Kanati is a great bow. And, true to its name, it is a hunter. I loved mine, but had to sell it due to age-related moving down in weight. Maybe I'll get another.
I absolutely love my kanati. My cascade brush hawk changed my stick bow shooting ways, wanted a bow similar for just in case and had Jason build me a Super K ( modeled after bear grayling green) absolutely amazing
