The Zona Recurve came out of retirement with a bang! Haven't hunted with this bow in two seasons.
Very blessed to have taken this fine Louisiana public land buck! The shot was 17 yards he fell within 35 yards. The bow is 52 pounds at 26 inches 58" amo. Gold tip arrow with a magnus stinger 150 grain head, 100gr brass insert, 550 grain total arrow weight.....
I found a ridge that necked down between two sloughs. I had to wear my hip boots to cross the slough which stops many people from getting to this spot. There were several Nutall oaks still dropping on this finger. I was on the wrong oak! I watched him feed under another oak 75 yards away and I was kicking myself for not moving there as I had saw a young 8pt under that tree the evening before...
He fed a while then luckily he headed my direction but was going behind me into my scent trail down wind. I figured game over when he stopped behind me, then he made a left turn and walked right up beside me and stopped at 17 yards! I was really pumped to have had this opportunity.

Really nice deer, especially this late in the season. And a great shot! I've seen too many of your posts like this for it to be luck. You're a flat out killer. Congrats.

No Sir I haven't been bringing my camera at all deer hunting the last couple seasons. Just got to be too much for me to try to be camera man and shooter lol
What once came so easily, wasn't so easy anymore......
I might drag it with me next weekend to try to get one on video
Very cool and congrats!
Very nice buck Corey! Thanks for sharing. I too like the picture in the pirogue.
Sometimes, it`s meant to be and sometimes not.
This is a great example of what Mike Mitten always says..."measure success in proportion to your effort".
I`m sure there are spots you can hunt with less effort...but what would be the point in that!
Well done, and many happy returns of the day!
