Hey guys if I have a 17" Dalaa riser what Black Max ILF limbs would I need to get a 60" recurve? And when it says the poundage on the limbs, what length of riser do they view as standard to get that weight? Thanks in advance
Dave
I think the limbs (Olympic style) are rated on a 23-25inch riser. Subtract 2 inches from to get bow length.
My 17 inch ilf riser with xxl limbs gives me a 64 inch bow.
Also remember that poundage varies with the riser length - I think you gain poundage with shorter riser.
Mediums would make a 60" bow and the limbs are rated for a 17" riser according to their website.
******** limbs are marked at their approximate weight on a 17" riser, and other Olympic style limbs are marked on 25" risers. Medium limbs on a 17" riser is 60", and limbs increase or decrease in 2" increments.
David, matching draw length to limb length is important, what is your draw length?
Katman I am currently shooting a 60 inch recurve at about 28 1/2 inches of draw. Basically what I'm trying to do is standardize most of my Bows at 60 inches because that's what I seem to shoot the best considering how I hunt.
For a medium length draw like yours, I think a 60" bow with a 17" riser and mediums is the right idea. I would not shoot 19" risers with shorts, though, because an inch of riser is not equivalent to an inch of limb.
Good advice from styk, stay with medium limbs on the DAS 17" riser. Those limbs are a very good bang for your buck.
