Well I am still out hunting. I am hoping to get a couple more before the season closes on Wednesday 1/31/2018. I had my chance at a young buck on Friday 1/19/2018, but I messed up by shooting at a squirrel. Here is what happened. I am sitting in a ground blind, and of course there are birds and squirrels out feeding, heck there was even some morning doves outside the blind feeding. A few of those squirrels were quite plump, and I actually drew one but I let down. As the evening wore on and those squirrels became more tempting, one came pretty close to the blind and I drew and released and barely missed him. But here is what happen. I thought the arrow had skidded some where through the woods after missing the squirrel, and said to myself that I will look for it after the hunt was over. As I sat there looking, would you believe there is my arrow sticking upright in the ground. Now the only thing that I can figure is that somehow the arrow defected off of something in order for that to happen. Matter of fact that's a first for me. Well lo and behold here comes a buck. And wouldn't you know he walked right up to that arrow and took one sniff and he was out of there. I should be made to write 100 times I WILL NOT SHOOT AT SQUIRRELS WHILE BOWHUNTING DEER(LOL) I have a trail camera there and it caught the action. As you can see in the first pic the buck coming in, and after sniffing that arrow you can see in the second pic him getting out of there. man I was fit to be tied. I was/am hoping to get a couple more deer, because I need 20LBS more of ground venison for some of the stuff that I make. I went out this afternoon to no avail. But I plan to hunt the last 2 days and see what happens. But I haven taken 3 deer for the season already and want a couple more. Hey that's why it is called hunting, you win some and you lose some(LOL)

Going to try to get out Wednesday here on the Eastern Shore.
Tony,
How you doing my friend?
Now were you eating another Peanut butter and jelly sandwich and get some peanut butter on that arrow by chance lol?
Or was it possible that buck heard about you and how you are deadly with that Fox longbow and got out of Dodge before you could draw on him? ;)
Darn! At least you know you were in the right tree! I don't know what it is about those squirrel arrows, deer seem to go right to them.
I used to hunt pc a MD public about 1/2 hour away across the state line. But it doesn't hold as many deer as it used to. I should try it again next year.
Tedd
Stay after them! I'm still hunting Ohio with the last day being February 4th.
Hey Tony, glad to see someone is still out chasing whitetails. I may go out tomorrow afternoon. I've never hunted the last day of the season before. Good luck to ya.
Dave
Well you have two days left to get after those squirrels (...I mean deer). LOL!!! I once emptied my quiver shooting at a squirrel a few feet from my tree. He dodged every one of my arrows and then he scolded me for being in his tree. I'm going to take a day off tomorrow and hunt the last day of the season.
Wow pretty nice buck - hope you get em

That is a nice buck Tony. Hopefully you get another chance at him.
Saw two nice bucks and a doe cross the road in front of me tonight coming home from a basketball game. The super moon has them moving.
Saturday was my last chance to get out. Pretty morning.

I almost got a shot at one about the same size as that one Tony. Was going today but just as I was leaving checked the weather station and it was SE not the called for SW. Have no stands for a SE. Checked other stations all SE so I went rabbit hunting around the house. Got one decent shot running but no dice. Mickey ran 2 rabbits and did his part.
Well fellows I went out the last day yesterday, but the deer decided not to play. Thanks for your comments and inputs. Now I will look forward to springtime Turkeys, Ground Grizzlies and bow fishing to carry me over until September Shoot Straight and Good Hunting.
Tony
I'm with you Tony! See you this spring in Baltimore too. Looking forward to spring morels, rainbow trout, and turkey chasing.
Maybe I'll even talk Robbie Davis into a ray hunt this year.
Put another deer season into the books!
Thanks Greg, that's a go for Baltimore. Also if you talk to Robbie Davis about Bowhunting Rays, I would like to be included on the trip if possible. I have not Bowfished for Rays since going with his dad(Rob Davis) a few years before his passing. By the way rainbow trout sounds good. I like going up to sideling hill and walking the streams with a light rod in hand. Shoot Straight and Good Hunting.

See you at Baltimore Tony. Have fun.
Ok thanks Richard, and as fast as time move before we know it, the Baltimore will be here.
Tony
Sounds good Tony. I'll mention your interested in joining too.
Thanks Greg
