I met Brett at a bunny stomp and we exchanged a few PM's. Its too bad that we didn't get to share more hunts so we will hunt in his memory.
The dates and location are set and we are going stomping again. It will take place at Kanopolis Lake (east of the dam) on February 3rd 9am. Same place as last year.
I will post up the directions again. If anybody knows how to post a link to last years stomp feel free.
Some of my fondest memories are these bunny stomps everybody is invited. We will have a potluck style lunch.
I wish I were closer. Brett was a great guy!! I was blessed to hunt with him at the Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny hunt in Selkirk NY. Hope you all have a safe and fun Bunny Stomp.
Big Ed
Bretto was a very good friend of mine. I always looked forward to shooting with him. Did a lot of talking between targets and around a campfire. Miss him a lot. Caleb he always spoke well of you and how much fun he had at the bunny hunts. Unfortunately I go south in the winter and am not home when the bunny hunt occurs. Have fun guys and remember Bretto.
Me,and a pie, will be there Caleb.
See you there I just need to know where there is. Sorry to hear of Bretto's passing. Met him on the bunny stomps here in KS.
Have a great time guys...
I'll try and make it and bring my 5 year old son. He would love it!
Hope you both can make it.

The little black arrow is where we will start the day. Next will be my best directions to get there.
The Dam is on K 141 Highway.
If you are coming from the south you will turn on Riverside Dr heading east you will come to a STOP sign you will turn left and go north. You will pass a trailer park then cross the river. When you get to the trees take the left back towards the dam.
If you are coming from the north you will take a left on Ave O before you get to the dam. You will follow the road the first road take a right.
If this doesn't make sense use the maps. There is a park along the river we should be able to have lunch. Feel free to bring something. I will have my grill and 2 burner camp stove to cook with.
If anybody has any questions feel free to PM me or call 785 502 0395
Thanks and God willing I will see you there.
Talked to Rory he will be joining us as well. Looking forward to it.
5 hr. drive for me, but I might try to see if I can make it. Sounds like fun. A great way to honor a brother of the bow.
Can anyone direct me to a resource that tells if there are 1-day or 3-day licenses for non-resident hunting in KS. The only thing that I found on the KS Wildlife Dept. website was annual licenses, which run just under $100. If that's the only option, I'm afraid it's too much for me to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Fattony77, I'll do some checking for you tomorrow.
Well bad news Fattony77. The only non resident license is the annual one. Unfortunately you need one to hunt rabbits.
Dang it. I appreciate you checking it out for me. Maybe I can see about setting up some more hunts throughout the year next year, so I can make it worth the price of admission...
Hope you guys have a great time. I'll be watching for updates & pics.
TTT
I'll be there with my son. Looking forward to seeing everybody!
Me and CJ will be there.
Oh yeah, and the pie. :)
I'll be there. I talked to Rory he will be joining us. What am I going to make for food though???
Really looking forward to this guys.

It was a good time today gentlemen! Kelly, now I know where I saw the picture! Lol! It was here! Good times, good food, and great ambitions! Jon, I'm glad you brought Trent! He was a blast! Paul, as always, please make sure to thank Mrs. Paul for the ten inch pan!
Well I'm aching a bit this morning but it sure was great to see everyone yesterday. It was a nice day and a good time. I'm glad that John and his son Trevor made the drive out to join in the fun.
And remember guys, "Yah Rabbit". :)
Oh and Rory, I might be able to talk the wife into 2 pies next year... ;)
It was a good time! Trent is already looking forward to next years stomp. I didn't take very many pictures, but I have a few to share.

After the first walk, we went back to the parking lot to hydrate and have a snack. Trent disappeared into the pickup. He was asleep in no time. So the group took off on another walk and I joined for a bit. I went back to check on Trent, and finally convinced him we should go look for some bunnies. We didn't shoot and bunnies, but we did find our first shed of the year.

It was great seeing old faces and meeting new ones! I'm sure we all will share many more hunts together!
Thanks for posting up those pictures Jon.
Especially that last one.
Looks like fun. Odd that KS doesn't have a NR license for short periods, like 1, 3 or 7 days.
ok the group pic (fingers crossed I did it right)

Yeah I noticed that too. I was thinking of hunting out in Colorado and I thought it would be cool to stop in Kansas. I watch this thread so I thought maybe I could stop for a day or two and hunt bunnies in KS since I have never been to the plains.
Another great member and I used to always enjoy reading his posts...
God speed.... :campfire:
Thanks for posting that Kelly. Funny how all us guys with beards ended up on the one end..? :)
L-R Jon and Trevor,Rory,Caleb,Kelly, me and CJ
As always it was a fun day.
yes and the taller folks on the other lol.
I agree about the pie plates Kelly! First thing I told my wife about when I got home was that pie. Maybe we will have a few next year :D
Guys,
My wife is really appreciating all the enthusiastic comments about the pie. :)
