Title: Nock tuning help
Post by: Ari_Bonn on January 11, 2018, 11:08:00 PM
So at 5yard shooting into my foam target...  arrow is going in point high/nock low.  Bow tillered 3 under and  nock already at 1/2".
5/16th shafts.

Lower or raise nock point?

These 2 charts seem top contradict each other so confused.

So I'm no expert but I was taught that when bareshaft tuning, stand 15-20 feet back from the target, hold your bow as close to vertical as you can, and shoot with good form. If the nock is higher than the arrow point then You nock point is high, lower means it's low.....the exception being if Your nock point is set way to low it could bounce off the shelf and give you a a false high nock situation......so when starting out it's best to start with your nock point in a spot You known will be too high and work your way down to the sweet spot.....I install nocks 3/4 Inch high When starting out........again, no expert but that's the way I was taught and it seems to work for me.

Raise nocking point. 3 under usually requires a higher nocking point. Mine is 5/8th high.

Raise it to 3/4" and bring it down until satisfied. Yes, that should be too high, but as you go down you should know when you're getting to the right spot.

Use two nocking points. Above/below.

Yep, raise it. If it gets worse then your arrow is bouncing off shelf. Your bottom diagram has it right. 1/2-3/4 is not unusual for three under especially if the bow is tillered for split finger.

Thanks guys,  raised to 3/4  shooting good enough for me now.  I figured it being tillered for 3 under I wouldn't need it as high. It is however more quiet and smoother to draw back then bows tillered for split
