I am always tinkering with a Shot Procedure/system that doesnt require much practice or maintenance to my 18 yard and in hunting shot. I shoot my bow now ( last 10 years) like a shotgun. I aim down the arrow basically with three under.........BUT....i have now tweaked it.....i grab my string 1 inch under my arrow knock so my arrow is really under my eye but my middle finger is in corner of my mouth for solid anchor.....I guess i am Gap, string walking. jada jada .....bow is a little louder but DANG!!!!!!!!!! the accuracy at 18 yards everytime!!
You would really enjoy Masters of the Barebow 5.
Many people shoot this way. It is referred to as a fixed crawl. See those threads and string walking.
Thanks Guys!.....wodering if i need to make my bottom limb longer?
PS you may find you can get your bow a little quieter by raising your nocking point (youll then crawl less far down the string) and playing w brace height. Im shooting a crawl on my Toelke Pika and kept getting comments about how quiet my bow was at indoor league the other night. Jimmy Blackmon has a great youtube video on benefits of crawl for hunting.
Joey....why can't you just be still????
:campfire:
Hahaha! my trad spirit is ADHD!
Those turkeys are in trouble now!!!
There have been feature length films made about it Joey!
I would need a thicker string! Using trad nocks on wood or aluminum arrows, they fall off of skinny strings unless held in place.
Yep the fixed crawl. I've played with it and love the accuracy, but don't like the noise. I guess I need to do as rifleman says. Off season tickering never stops haha
I am almost up to speed from Youtube on the "crawl".
Bowyer Question? Should i make my lower recurve
TD limb 1" Longer if i want to make a set up for the ultimate Quiet Fixed Crawl bow?
Been shooting fixed crawl for about 9 yrs now. Deadly. I have better luck using 4 small wool puffs to silence string than two larger ones. All my bows are tillered for 3 under. On my recurves I wrap the string with wool yarn where it hits the curves. I haven't had a bow yet that I couldn't quiet down shooting this way. Just takes some tinkering with.
