Title: Aluminum arrows
Post by: Lee Lobbestael on December 24, 2017, 11:02:00 AM
I'm thinking about trying some aluminum arrows. Not sure which ones to order tho. I shoot a cut to center r/d bow with a 1/16" thick strike plate 46#@28". Would like to shoot 175 up front. Any suggestions?

If you are drawing around 28" you could probably use 1816 s and cut them down to tune.  If you would like them closer to full length 1916s would be a good bet.

I would think you'd need at least a 2016 with 175 points up front.

What string material on the bow?
Modern material (FF), I'd say 2016 w/ 175g point.
Dacron string, I'd say 1916 w/ 175g point.

1816 is too light. 1916 or 2016 sounds better, depending on how clean you release.

2016 at 29"s with 175.

1916's cut to 28.5 maybe.

1916. check out the easton tribute...nice black shaft. OR easton came out with a FMJ in autumn orange and the old camo hunter if you want a carbon/aluminum. i'll be shooting one of the "retro" FMJ this yr.

Another vote for 2016. I'm shooting 28.5" and 145gr at 500gr for 47# @ 26" recurve with FF.

I shoot 2016s with similar bows to yours. 29.75" arrow, <29" draw, works for me w/ either 145 or 175 gr points.

2016 is .531 spine I believe. 2114's are .510. I really like 2114 and think they are a more durable shaft.

2016s are too heavy.

You can't find a better arrow for the money than a Legacy. $5 a shaft, and more consistent in spine and weight and straightness than most carbons.
