Looking at a St Joe River Torrent recurve. Anybody own one or shot one? What are your thoughts on quietness, smoothness of theses bows? Thanks, Bob
Anyone?
Bob I can think of two really quick that are on here that have them But they are not on here much. They are Cliff Huntington Goes by Liquid Amber and the other is Eric Funk.
Yes, I own one of their 56" recurves, 52# @ 28". I draw a little shorter so pulling around 50# or so. Believe I ordered it after shooting one at the PBS Banquet in Nashville. I slipped some fur silencers on the string and it is as quiet as any bow I've owned. I shoot 2114s mostly but do switch to 1916s occasionally, with Wensel Woodsman heads.
My bow is a hunting bow and stays strung the entire season and not babied. I've tossed it out of trees into bushes to scare off deer at dark as well as accidentally dropping it out of my stand. I've killed both hogs and deer with this bow and have had no problem with relaxed game reacting to bow noise. It does the job for me.
I have one! I sold a high end bow to finance a Torrent after shooting one this summer and couldn't be happier. I hadn't planned to hunt with it this year thinking I would need time to get used to it. Not the case, I shot the bow well immediately. It's very quick, quiet, and smooth. I love mine.
My wife Jandin has a beautiful 56" Torrent longbow. It's her first custom. She couldn't be happier with how it shoots and how it performs.

Hey Bob, I also own a torrent, 57lb @ 28". I have taken deer and turkey with this bow. It's dead in the hand and quick shooting. It was also my first custom bow, Dave and Tracey are great to work with and the bow will exceed your expeditions.
