I have a Dry Ridge 3 piece longbow, 40 lbs at 28 inches. 64 inches long. I have been doing research on recommend brace height with no success. Anyone here familiar with a starting range?
Can you post a picture of it? I'm not familiar with Dry Ridge. Sometimes an unbraced photo can lead to a starting point.
When in doubt start at 1/8th of the AMO length.
8"
Longbows seem to prefer slightly less. Try 7-1/2" if no one else chimes in.
I have a 62", 48 lb take-down Dry Ridge (Love It!!) and have my brace height set at 7 1/2" measured from the back of the grip (where the web of your hand hits the riser). I'm pretty sure that was what the bowyer suggested and it seems to shoot fine.
Irish girl, this is Tim. As Tom said, start at 7.5" and go from there. Mine are always between 7.5 and 8" depending on what I'm looking for. Always enjoy hearing that the bows are still shooting out there.
Hi Tim! Good 'hearing' from you again. I hope you and your family are well. I still love my bow. As far as I'm concerned, your riser design has some of the most fluid, appealing lines of any bow out there. You back in the biz, yet??? Ha!
Marsha, I read a very nice write-up of your exact setup around the time I bought mine. I wish I could find it for you. I do recall it was quite positive, claiming the speed and smoothness of draw were better than his other bows. Have fun with yours.
