I passed this guy several times, but after 10 days on stand, I really needed to call it a season, so when he showed up yesterday, I dropped the string. I blew a couple opportunities at Big mature bucks and am tickled I'm able to get out and enjoy the woods as much as I do. Goal accomplished, a Blacktail Buck with my Blacktail recurve 46@28 and Ron French custom arrows #blacktailbows #ronfrencharrows
13 yards and double lungs.

Nice! A wily blacktail is a trophy at any size.
Good job Paul!
You know I give all the arrows I build some predator mojo by photographing them on my cougar skin.
Congratulations that's awesome
Congratulations !
Congrats Paul! Black tails are sure beautiful (both kinds).
Way to go Paul!
That was Nice! Good Job.
Glad to see someone else using a string. Even if it breaks it gives you a good start on the trail.

I'm beginning to think they run farther with them, but they certainly do give you a good start.
You might be right. I'm sure glad I was using one this year. Arrow came out through the sternum and almost no blood trail. Lost the string after about 80 yards and the buck went another 300! That string helped get me started through the brushiest first part of the trail.
That was great! Congrats!
Congrats!
Cool! Did he have an old wound on his back?
Congrtulations, It looks like a couger got and lost him before you. Is that what it looked like when you skinned him out?
God bless, Steve

Yes, my friend Micah skinned his back a week earlier.
Very nice buck!!!
Not trying to make "myself relevant" here, but these deer, and where they inhabit, can make for some of the most frustrating & difficult hunting I've ever done. I consider ANY Blacktail deer a real accomplishment, be it a Doe or a Buck.
Congratulations! Nice Job!!
P.S. That was from a treestand, right? That's something I gotta try, I guess.....

Thanks and yes, I hunt from a stand.
I live inTroutdale, so were practically neighbors. I killed that buck near Sandy on Weyerhauser land.
Fantastic shot and wonderful animal. One of my dream hunts for sure!
