My wife has a Hoots Lil Hoot that I traded for a year or so back, and it has given me an appreciation for short lightweight bows. I've also had the opportunity to shoot a Thunderchild, and it was awesome as well. The thing is, most of the bows with similar sizes are usually pretty pricey.
I've heard great things about the Prairie Predator, and have thought it'd be a great little bow to have, but most I've seen reviewed were around the 60" range. There's no doubt that the price can't be beat, so it might be more of a possibility than the $700- $1000+ models. According to the website, it's available in lengths from 52" to 62". I was just curious if any of you guys have shot one in the 52" to 56" range. How do they shoot? How does the design coupled with the short length do with a full 28" draw?
I'd love to here some feedback, and if you've had a chance to compare it to some of the more expensive short bows, that'd be awesome. I'd love to see some pictures of the short ones as well.
This post caught my eye, and since I'm the guy who makes them, I'll tell you about them. If you got with 52" - 53" I wouldn't draw them beyond 26", 54" - 55" can be drawn to 27" and anything over that can handle a 28" draw. I mention those based on where they start to stack. Keep them in those parameters I mentioned and you'll enjoy shooting them and you'll find they're plenty fast.
I did send one out to a customer that was 55 1/2" from nock to nock and her draws 28", and was happy with it, he didn't mind the slight increase in gain on that last inch.
I'd like to hear other's input as well, but most of them I send out are 58" - 62".
I went with 62" so not much help with shorter PP, mine does quite nicely at my 29inch draw.
If Mike says it, count on it.
Mine is 62" as well, but it out-shoots bows that are heavier and way more expensive.
Thanks Mike. Sounds like 56" would be my minimum if I have a chance to get one. I'm not dead set on a short bow, but was just curious.
Mike makes a great bow.
I pull 31" and just ordered a 48" from Mike...for my daughter.
He also makes a cool string follow bow that is intriguing.

We've got a couple 58" Prairie Predators from Mike....and a 60"...and a 62"...lol. Draw lengths of 27, 28, and 29 inches. 29" draw is on 60"
The 58" are smooth fast shooters as all are. In fact I believe my particular 58" bow is a bit smoother to shoot then the 62". The 62" at 28" draw and same poundage as the 58". All of ours are pleasing bows.
if you want shorty from mike, and if you are ok with recurve, get new MACHETE!!! it is fast small compact light and quiet! -ted
