It's been slow here so far from what I hear, but this weekend is shaping up to be a great one with lows in the low 30's!!! First cold days of the year in oklahoma!

I actually don't put in for it anymore, because I prefer hunting my place, even if the odds of shooting a monster are less.  I just like then process of scouting, and watching the deer throughout the year, I guess.  Good luck!  Conditions should be great.

I lived for years just outside the gate, & hunted within a half mile of the fence line and never had a stick bow. Moved clear across the state and finally got a real bow but still haven't put in for the MCAAP hunts. Need to.

I like the challenge of hunting a unknown place. I feel like it's the true test of a hunter. Especially on a short timeframe.

Now MCAAP has a lot of deer and a lot of big deer! So im not sure how hard it really is. Lol. (But the success rates are low!)

Last year I shot a doe so I'm back on a quality pass. I hope to keep the streak going!

I was there last weekend. High temps were tough but we got into some big deer. With this week's weather you should be set. They were pounding the scrapes and even chasing a little bit. Pinch points near hot scrapes should be a feature to key in on!

The problem is that you pick an area on map without any scouting, then are generally stuck with that area, and if you pick an area that the acorns have already dropped and been worn out, you are out of luck, and if the weather is bad, that is too bad.  Those are the days you got.  Just not for me, is all.

I hear ya pdk. But I bet ya no matter where you park there's at least 1 or 2 awesome spots within a mile of the truck. The trick is to find them! Lol

is it one of them no smaller bucks trophy places?

for just 1 buck let alone 10 that size to be running around at once there has to be some kind of restrictions if not there some serious deer genetics going on down there.

Nope...it's a tradbow only hunt that's the only stipulation. No restrictions of any kind. It's amazing the "superior genetics" that show up when a deer lives to be 5-7 years old

It's on boys. I hope you okies are out tomorrow morning. Saw a nice one running around grunting and acting overall rutty. One guy in our group missed a 150" according to him

I don't know what I don't know.
What is MCAAP?

It's an active Army ammunition plant almost 50,000 acres in size. Tags to hunt the facility are only available through a drawing and hunting is limited to traditional bows with no sights. It' a challenging but coveted hunt due to overall deer numbers and the size of the bucks it produces.

Some studs were killed tonight. But not by me.

I saw deer from light until 11. Then from 430 until dark.

I still haven't seen a MCAAP MONSTER. But saw a ~120-130" last night. A nice one this morning
And had a 110" 2.5 year old about 430. He came to 25 yds. My killer instincts were firing but the shot opportunity was quick and he was looking my way. I'm glad instinct didn't take completely over. He was nice but not what we are here for.

Does are gonna be in trouble tomorrow though (last day).

I went into the skinning room. They've got 8-10 nice bucks hanging. 2 or 3 on the top end of decent. 1 awesome buck. 1 really awesome buck in the 150"s. And one super tank that was 171 or 178", I can't recall.

if you zoom in you can see it in one of my pics.

My last morning I saw a nice one. Big tall and wide. Not a ton of points but a definite shooter.

Long story short he chose the right path. He went around the wrong side of a pine thicket. I couldn't see him, but he was about yards away when he fought another buck. Hell of a fight. I think its the first real deal fight I've heard. They were getting it. I was hoping they'd break and head my way but no luck.
