Title: Suggestions
Post by: Jessebeaux on October 11, 2017, 01:48:00 PM
Deposit has been paid on a Big Jim bow. However, I'm rethinking if I want a Thunderchild or Buffalo.... Forgiving is key. The radical reflex/deflex of the Thunderchild make me wonder how Forgiving it will be? Any advice? ALSO POST PICS OF YOUR BIG JIM BOWS!

Congratulations.

Bows hold no grudges.

They are both reflex/deflex flatbows.  I'd ask Big Jim which he thought would be better suited to the specific features I wanted (grip height, bow length, draw length & weight, etc.)

I bought a big Jim Buffalo used. It's a beautiful bow, but I can't develops any consistency with it. It's 60 inches, 59@28 and I have a 29" draw which may have something to do with it. If I could get a longer one I would definitely jump on it to see if it worked out better.
On the plus side, it is very fast and has zero handshock. The craftsmanship is flawless.

Jessebeaux, Looking at the list of bows under your name, I think that you will have no issues with the Thunder Child...it might be short, but it doesn't shoot that way...amazingly stable.

I know that at the time of deposit, you decide one bow or the other, but it really doesn't matter. When I contact you for your build, you can change that.
Nothing is set in stone at anytime. In fact, even if you receive your bow and wish you had chosen something else...different wood combo, length or model. Wish you had gotten TD or horn or whatever. All you need to do is let me know and I'll build you another bow. There are some time limits of course and you would be responsible for shipping and any up charges but the goal is to get you in to a bow that you can be happy with.
I have offered this to everyone ...at least as far as I can remember, but it is rare that I have had someone take me up on it...2 that I can think of but there may have been more.

Trenton G., the 60" is a bit on the short side for you. I don't know what your normal draw weight is, but even if it is around 62#'s, being on short buffalo might give you issues.

The Thunderchild is very well mannered IMO....

And has a generous brace height....

I really like the way mine shoots....

I wish I knew how to post pictures, but with the new system going I'll give it a try.
I have six Big Jim bows. I'm shooting a Thunder Child right now,and love it. I still think I like my three piece 66"Buffalo the best though.

Ok, thanks Jim. I'll look around and see if I can find one in a longer length.
