Thursday morning I'll start the 12 hour drive to spend some quality time with Kenny McKenzie. My chosen bows were packed and ready to go but a minor misfortune sent me back to the bow room to re-evaluate what I was going to TRY to shoot this year. Changing wiper blades on my truck yesterday, while wrestling with a stubborn one, I managed to cut my index finger on my string hand down to the bone. A trip to the ER and several sutures along with Medical Grade super glue were needed to close it up. Going to have to go light this trip, dropping about 10 pounds from what I normally shoot. I'll keep everyone posted on how our week progresses. Always look foward to spending time with Kenny and the rest of the gang from Michigan.

Good luck Mike!! I just looked on my new phone, your number never transferred. If you still have mine, shoot me a text
Exciting times, good luck.
That sounds like something that would happen to me. Best of luck on your trip!
I got limbs, we can whip up a leftie! Take care of yourself! There are a few rather large bucks that will be disappointed ..
Have a great trip !!!
Best of luck Mike!
Can't wait for the updates.
Good Luck Mike.
Good luck Michael! I'd like to meet Kenny some day.
Have a good trip. Enjoy!!
Good luck! I know you'll have a great time!
All rain, all the time ,but sun is trying to shine now. With 3.4" of rain, should be able to tell where deer have been for sure.
2 hunters here, 2 more tomorrow late...
Just an observation here: Trad guys are for the most part - salt of the earth guys!!
Have fun! Kenny, this sounds like a great time for all...
Mike, sorry to hear of it! You just seem to be vexed when it comes to Kenny's trips. But at least you are going this time!
Depending on you and Kenny for updates, Jim doesn't even have a cell phone and wouldn't post if he did. Very disappointed I am not there. Our trip to Kenny's is the high spot of my year.

Rolled in around 4:00am Friday morning in the pouring rain that didn't stop until mid day yesterday, a total of about 4" by the time it finally quit. Slow night last night but I was entertained by a pair of owls close by carrying on a pretty interesting extended conversation.
This morning, about an hour after first light, I had mama doe surprise me coming in from behind at 15 yards, but she figured out something wasn't right while I was trying to get my bow off the hook and decided to step back in the thick stuff. The kids weren't as smart as they came out and "posed" in my shooting lane at 10 yards before they decide they'd better follow mom. With this rain the deer are silent moving through even the thickest stuff. Made a change to make my bow a little more accessible. I'd better get back to paying attention.

TGMM Family of the Bow
Well, as I was just struggling around with Imgur trying to figure out out how to post a pic, I hear a noise, look up, and have a spike broadside at 12 yards. By the time I could stow my phone, get my bow and get an arrow on the string , he was showing me his butt at 15 yards as he slowly walked away. I guess I need to figure out this picture thing over a beer tonight......Darn.
