Shut the car door walked 100 yards down the log road and heard something coming. I froze and got an arrow out of my quiver and got ready. This hog came straight down the log road and stopped at 5 yards. It turned broadside and I drew slow enough that it didn't see. I don't practice 5 yard shots but when I was looking at my spot it felt perfect. When the arrow hit I knew it was dead on its feet. Center punched the heart and blood flew like a gunshot wound. It ran 40 yards and died in about 1 minute. This was a big surprise because we didn't know there were hogs on this property.
A big bonus. This was my first bow kill. I also killed it with my
dads first bow. 1967 Red Wing Hunter. That bow turned 50 this year and I'm glad to get some blood on it for the first time.

Congrats!
Also big bonus, today was the mountain heritage festival here in the smokies. Hogs are as hillbilly as it gets so I feel like I did well today.
Very nice!!
It's been a day. Up at 5 am to get the produce to market. Get back at 2 start processing a 40 pound candy roaster squash. Head out and killed this hog. We did take a break to cook a loin. Put a lot of food in the freezer today. Thankful.
Did well indeed, Congrats on taking the hog with your dad's old bow.

Nice job!
Congratulations!
Good stuff!! Congrats.
Wearing my dads jones cap too. Love that hat
Sounds like a really great hunt.
Probably more good hunts to come. Judging by this hog someone on the other side of the mountain released a bunch. We don't want them on that mountain.
Way to go man. You have broke the spell and many more critters will fall to that bow. >>>----> Ken
I'm gonna kill a deer with it and then she is gonna go into temporary retirement until my son is ready for his first hunting bow. Hopefully many more generations will carry that bow.

Nice! Congrats
Good Looking Hog and Bow! Congrats!!!
You made your daddy proud. That hog should offer some good eating. Resembles some "pot belly hogs" I've seen in Texas. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
