While going through final supplies for the upcoming season, I noted I was out of orbital gland lure and a stash of my Bow Hush for a back-up string that needed silencers. Pulled up each in the sponsor section late yesterday morning and later that afternoon I had shipping notification from each. I love the personal touch of seeing sponsors at shows and talking to them, but it's also great when they have the ease of buying stuff quickly. I don't ever want to see small mom and pop businesses hurt by lack of technology, but it's nice to be able to use it. Thanks sponsors!
Off topic but I'd like to hear ur reviews on Smokeys orbital gland scent.

I don't believe it's off topic. I started using it because of recommendations from the Wensel's on here. I used the same type of rope with a zip tie about 1 inch above the frayed end above where I want the deer to open up a scrape. Last year I had a buck open up a scrape on one of my ropes that I handn't scented with the smokey's since the December before. I've had as many as four scrapes opened up in a circle around a scent rope with Smokey's orbital gland. I wear latex gloves, turn the rope with frayed end up and then put 3 drops of smokey's on the frayed end and let them work down into the rope for about ten seconds and then leave it alone. If I'm not seeing any deer on the camera (or if you don't use camera's and don't see a scrape opened up by the time your rut activity starts, freshen up the rope. One little bottle goes a long way.
You using the natural hemp rope? I don't recall what the Wensel's recommended.
Burnsie, I believe that's what it was called. Or 'Manilla' something. I just hang it from a branch so it is chest high. Some also use a sapling branch zip tied along the rope to create a little 'pushback' to the rope. I've only used rope on it's own.
how far up do you place the rope off the ground? I have not had any luck with my set up.
I do about 5 feet up. Historically, I've had 4 sets out. 3 are active, one is not (I've had trail camera pictures of does sniffing at it, but no active scraping or multiple bucks checking it out like the other three spots. I can't tell you what the secret tree is to hang them from, because they're all different.
I hunt public land so I don't use the rope but do use saplings that I zip tie in place. Smokey's works great and I've got some nice pictures of the bucks in the area.
I've used it for several years now and it works for me. I think every animal that comes by stops to investigate. I have photos of coyotes, coons bear, as well as does and buck all on their hind legs sniffing the rope.
Just made 2 mock scraped tonight with 1" manilla rope and put on the orbital scent. Also did a couple mock rubs and put out some forehead gland lure . We will see what happens.

I had about fives scrapes start up around my rope last year. The furthest was about 60- 70 yards.
Does anyone have a link to one of the Wendel articles on this technique?
May have seen a write up on their web page. Or, do a search for wicks or "wicked wicks". One of those should work.
www.brothersofthebow.com (http://www.brothersofthebow.com) has Wicked Wicks articles, both Part 1 & 2
Thank you
