It's the second week of the archery season here in MN. The temp today is 88.. My hunting buddy is chewing at the bit to be out so I figured I will sit for a few hours this eve in a marsh area despite the heat. I'm just being whiny. I'm not expecting any deer to be moving.
They still have to eat and drink......
Same here in Wisconsin!
Yeah. I want my 60s back. Deer still move, went out last night and saw 7, including one of the bucks I'm after that caught me wiping sweat off my brow before I knew he was there. Temp was 95 at 4:30, with a "feels like" of 112. Decided to skip tonight.
Biggest thing to worry about in this weather is getting a quick recovery and taking care of the meat right away.
next week it's supposed to be in the 60s.
We're out here now in the woods- very humid- thank god for thermacell!!
Yeah, down here in the South, early season is like that most of the time. When I was younger, it didn't bother me at all. Now, I agree - its too hot!
Today was my first chance to view some of the tree damage from the hurricane. Its time to buy up some chain saw fuel.
I skipped tonight's hunt to!
Fishing weather...
You can't kill 'em while sitting on the couch. We typically don't see temps below 90 in the afternoons until mid-Oct.
Go get one.
Hope it cools down before our opener next week-- mid-80s now.
Killed a 9-point my first time out on Sept. 9th here in KY. AM temperature was 56. I rarely hunt evenings anyway and definitely not this time of the year when so hot.
Rather hunt in zero degree weather any day, 80's and 90's here in CT.
A problem here, too.
89°F the last week of September! Lunacy!
I don't have camo shorts and sandals. Frikken mosquitoes and black flies are HORRIBLE.
Our bow season starts Sunday. Hopefully it will be cooler by then.
I didn't hunt the second weekend in central WI. either 91 degree's. Instead I did something even more idiotic, I painted my cabin.
Im going tomorrow afternoon. Shoukd be 93.im ready for cooler weather.
93°F here as well.
I was at a beer distributor's and one of the loose cans of "craft" beer exploded on a wall shelf. LOUD! Two other guys and I are all facing each other over rows of cases four high on the floor like the final scene in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, wondering who shot and what the next move is.
Whew!
