Title: Toelke Lynx?
Post by: McDave on September 05, 2017, 10:25:00 AM
I was just looking at the Toelke website, and couldn't find the Lynx. Does he not make that bow anymore?

Just received a note back from Dan.  They don't make it anymore.  Guess l'll have to quit recommending it to people.  I sure do like my Lynx!

I'm surprised and disappointed. The Lynx is a great bow.

Is Dan going to continue to provide replacement limbs for the Lynx in the event something happens to them? Dan is a great guy and I'm sure he has a plan to deal with these issues.

Don't know about replacement limbs but he did write me saying they have shelved the Lynx. Too bad!

Dang! I just got a Chinook and love it and was thinking if I ever get another bow I'd like to try the lynx. Wonder why?

That's too bad, my two lynx are my favorite bows. I just got a set of limbs from him last week for my lynx. Hopefully he keeps making limbs.

Damn.  That sucks.  I had plans to order one someday.  Guess I will need to get another 2 piece whip instead.

wow that surprises me, I wonder why..

Maybe the 1 and 2 piece designs give them all the business they need?

Dan wrote that it was a production problem.  They had to spend too much time changing over the production line to make all the different models they had.  So something had to go.

Of course, I suppose they could have made the decision to expand the production facility.  Many companies would love to have that problem.  But I can understand their decision.  In my own business as a CPA, I had to make the same decision early on.  I decided it was more important for me to keep my hands on everything that went through my office than it was to make more money and have more worries.  A person can be successful either way; you need to know your own strength and limitations.

It is too bad to hear that  the Lynx is over. One of the best recurve I ever owned.

I can almost guarantee you Dan may release something even better in the future, the Lynx was superb, but I've talked to Dan many times and he just sells way way more 2pc Whips and Chinooks.  He's probably doing what he has to do to keep the full time gig efficient and solid.

Yes, I hear the argument and understand it it perfectly.
I am a multiple time customer at Toelke archery. I have a 31+" DL and my comfort bow weight is in the 60# range more or less. Since I had a bow bolt TD bow exploded at full draw ( phenolic riser, not a Toelke) and almost stab myself with the arrow i don't trust that system any more. So now the Toelke offer is only one piece bow for guys like me. But living outside US and doing a lot of hunt where I need to fly out of home, TD is much more prefered. I am sure the long draw/ 55+# ( small) crew or the guys willing to use different limb set on same riser will heavily miss the 3 piece TD Toelke bows offer. (when on a remote hunt a second limb set as a back up is really a must have and way more easier to pack than a second bow) Maybe increasing the wait time to 3-6 month in order to get a larger batch of Lynx to do could have been a possible solution to try before stopping the Lynx

I cannot speak for Dan. But what I know of him, it's almost funny some of you all are worried about replacement limbs. I cannot imagine he'd ever leave his customers high and dry for any reason. He is still the same Dan Toelke

^----- yup, this.  Dan's customer service is second to none.  I've done business with him multiple times, last bow I bought was one of his stock bows, I got a tracking number email before I had even arranged payment and was incredulous, he replied later "send me a check if you like the bow".  It doesn't get any better than that.

I just get a custom Toelke Whip from Dan delivered to germany exactly at the estimated date. I love this bow. It is a bow-bolt takedown.

Maybe off topic, but I just received my Super Static tonight, what an unbelievable bow. I think I'm gonna like it even more than my Chinook!
Dan continues to be one of the best bowyers out there, awesome designs, with incredible customer service.

To be clear, no one is arguing about Toelke archery.  All the the bows offer, thequality and service provided, and Dan and Jared are AAA+. The topic here is just that: this bow is so good it is hard as a very satisfied owner, to let it go without complaining.
