Title: Bear takedown replica limb makers?
Post by: Cavscout9753 on September 04, 2017, 08:12:00 PM
I always like back ups when possible. Was thinking of some time down the line having a set of spare limbs for my Bear takedown. Who are some folks to look at, considering price, quality, etc?

Lucas...

I don't know f any that are being made other than by Bear any longer...

Jim Gainey of Black Creek bows used to make some... I think he closed up shop...

Brandon Stahl of Rose Oak Archery used to make some, but he's no longer doing the Bear limbs... And very few bows...

Kirk Lavendar of Bigfoot bows made some for a bit... But saw not to long ago that he was closing shop as well...

So the used market may be your only source...

There are some very talented bowyers who make them... Have a friend that does, but doesn't market or sell them at the present time...

Jonathan

Thanks! Yeah, I have no issue going the used route. Im in no rush so I'll keep an eye on the classifieds and see what pops up. Thanks again!

RER was another that was making some for a spell.  Same situation, RER changed hands and not sure if the new fellas have any plans to build any? Might be worth a call.

I have 2 sets from Dave Windauer. You might want to give him a call.

Check with Big Jims bow company, a trad gang sponsor. If your bear take down has those metal clips on the end of the riser, then he sells the limbs.

I have found the new red tip limbs by Bear Archery are good performers. Not a thing wrong with them. I own 3 sets, and a set of aftermarket limbs. All are #3 limbs and are used on both my 1970 magnesium riser and my 2015 all Burbinga B riser.

Bear limbs are available all over the place. Auction site and forum classifieds. That's one of the great things about the Bear TD.

I had both the fast flight compatible Bear Gainsville factor limbs and a set of #2 limbs that were done by Brandon Stahl at Rose Oak when he was making them. Brandon's were a little better than the factory (they have beautiful veneers and were a little smoother), however the current factory limbs are still very solid performers.

I have 2 sets from Brandon and they're excellent in every way. Both Rose Oak and RER are no longer making them. I also have a newer set of both #1 and #3 limbs from Bear, and they perform very nice as well.

To bad that some of the after market limbs makers are not making them anymore.
Rose Oak
Black Creek
RER
Kirk Lavander
Border
Maybe the only ones that can still make them are Wapiti(Chastain)
Dave Windauer(Shafer)

Yep, Keith Chastain from Wapiti should still make them upon request.

Thanka for all the input guys! I've never really had so many options for one bow before! Haha
