My buddy Mike did a great job explaining his philosophy and his new DVD project on a 2 hour 15 minute podcast with South Cox. Click below to have a listen:

Saw that yesterday. Figured I would listen to it this Sunday while at work. Thank you for the link Steve.
My favorite line:
"For me, I go light, I'm just one guy"
I've packed for trips with Mike. His light is NOT light :biglaugh:
He is getting better, I bet he knocked 20# off his sleep system in the last year.
Good luck in September Mike.
I heard the podcast yesterday and it was one of the best that I've listened to. Tried to give the show a five star rating after it was over but ITunes would not let me rate it. At any rate if you get a chance it will be a couple of hours well spent and an amazing about of solid info for you to use.
Steve,
Mike has always been helpful and informative to me over the years. Those types of guys inspire others to follow.
Another PBS'er and I will be hunting Alaska for the first time this year.
I can't wait to listen to the podcast.
Tim Antoine

His light may not be light....but I bet my heavy isn't his heavy either.
Thanks for the heads up Steve...looking forward to listening to it on my plane ride tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing Steve! I will check it out on the plane as well!
That was a great podcast!
Thanks for the heads up on this. Shoot me a text. New phone and can't find your number.
Downloading now. I'm kind of new to this Podcast thing but have been downloading a bunch to help keep me company on the 20 hour drive to New Mexico and back next month. Mike is always entertaining.
Yep, Mike is a walking contradiction. His passion is to hunt alone, all the while inspiring others and growing traditional bow hunting. He is a quiet guy, but goes around the country doing speaking engagements to promote traditional bow hunting. His physical presence is daunting, yet he does many kind and caring deeds without fanfare or publicity. I'm looking forward to his moose hunting DVD.
I feel fortunate to have talked with Mike at a booth a few years back. Very soft spoken and humble for a man of his stature and accomplishments. We spoke of Alaska and I purchased his book. Good luck this fall Mike!
Sounds like I'll have to listen today.
Thank you all for the kind thoughts. I hope you found some of it usefull. As long winded as I was, please stay tuned for part two once I return from the hunt. I would like to thank South for thinking of me and taking the time for the interview. Good luck to all on your fall hunt, Mike
I finally got around to listening to this and it was really worth it. Lots of info and knowing Mike I got a few chuckles as well. I can't wait to hear the follow up.
I hope you had a good hunt Mike.
Can't wait to hear it. I had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with Mike this past summer at our club trad shoot. A great time with a great guy.
Cool. Can't wait to listen to this. Thanks Steve O. Best of luck out there guys.
Stay tuned...I got a couple texts from Mike. I'm sure he will be posting some great stuff soon.
I listened to Mike's podcast on my way home from our west - outstanding! Anyone who is remotely considering hunting Alaska really needs to savor every word. There's a wealth of years worth of experience that Mike willingly shares with anyone willing to listen.
I had the opportunity to listen today. Really good stuff. Thanks for that Mike.
I enjoyed this Podcast a lot. Can't wait to hear the hunt recap.... :campfire:
Part 2 is published now Episode 62 of the Full Draw Full Time Podcast.
Thanks for the heads up Steve. I have been looking forward to this.
That was a good listen Mike. Congratulations on a great hunt. Thank you for your inspiration.
I bet you won't forget to check your sleeping pad again. :biglaugh:
I really enjoyed listening to both podcasts. Really got hooked on them. Couldn't stop listening. Will probably repeat both sooner than later. Pretty cool he's a fellow IL guy. Would like to cross paths someday.
If somebody knows how to post pictures here now, PM me your phone number. I've got a pic or two from Mike I can text to put his moose in here for all to see. It's as impressive as they come.

I finally had time to listen to Part 2 last night. I'd heard the story first hand and have been very busy of late so was in no rush, but wanted to get the word out when it was published for all to enjoy.
If you are ever thinking of hunting in Alaska you should listen to this podcast. Next month will be my 10th trip to Alaska; deer, caribou, moose, black and brown bear Included. The logistics of these trips is an incredible challenge; even on a guided trip. Mike does a very good job of giving a glint of how very difficult it is both before and after your game is down. And he's hit on maybe 10% of what is involved on one of these DIY hunts...I am sure there will be more in the Solo DVD.
Good job Mike and thanks for all you do with regard to education and inspiration in all bowhunting.
Absolutely incredible & inspiring... Well done :campfire:
Fantastic job on the podcasts! Having spent a few hours with Mike one can't begin to understand the intensity this quiet man has in regards to sharing his experiences. He is an ambassador for our way of life and walks the walk. Congrats again Mike on a giant of a moose.
It's amazing as Mike tells the story not only do you feel like your right there in Alaska but you can also hear the excitement in his voice. Nothing like hearing someone so passionate about his hunt. It's a Fantastic story and well worth the time heck I just listed to it again but this time found a quite spot in the house and really listened
