Hi Gang,
I recently picked up a Howatt Supper D and absolutely love it! The only thing I'd wish I could change is the size of the riser. It seems that the new models are sporting a much bulkier riser than the designs from the 90's. Next on the list is a Mamba. I've heard the earlier designs were also great shooters. Also a slimmer riser profile. Any thoughts on this? How do the two compare overall? I've been searching high and low for a Howatt Mamba #35@28 rh, but have had no luck in finding any. Why are they are so hard to find these days? Hunting season is getting close!

Because they are fantastic shooters and nobody wants to get rid of them! :D
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a Super Diablo. Its a newer model. Its gonna havta be shipped to me and I cannot find one local to feel the grip on. I like a slim grip and I'm a wee-bit worried the SD will have a thick grip. Any info on the grip styles on the newer martin/howatts?
Sorry...didn't mean to hijack your thread.
No worries. The newer grips on the SD seems to be more in line with the older hunter models. Also the finish seems to be smoother; making for a slightly less comfortable grip. The handle doesn't seem to be as "tacky for grip.
I bought the 2013 Super Diablo I mentioned above. I got a string on it and hurriedly checked the nock point before dark and shot a few arrows through it. Not tuned yet, just to see how the grip felt initially. I think I'll be OK with the grip. Its a little thicker than I like but not too bad. The bow is 50# and I shot some XX75 2016's, 28.5" shafts, 175g points and ..wow! Its a pretty darn fast bow. I've got a good string on the way for it and really excited to see how she performs when tuned correctly.
