Hey gang... I'm looking for a shorter takedown longbow and wanted your thoughts & feedback on these two bows. Pika bow bolt or Lil Creep jackknife ? I'm looking for a quiet forgiving bow for hunting out of blinds and tree stands. Thanks
Both great built bows, Creep is nice if you want a D shaped r/d bow that more resembles a classic longbow, Pika has a more radical limb profile and forward handle so I'm going to go ahead and put in my vote since I've owned a few Pikas, they shoot like a 6" longer bow, very pointable, quick, and Dan offers far more options for wood choices etc. Just my 2c.
I don't know, but I've wanted to try a Creep for some time!
I love my Creep and the jackknife is impossible to beat....like all things of quality though you really can't go wrong either way. I'd base it on the grip you think you'd like.
Havent shot a pika but can vouch that the great northerns are great to shoot. Ive got the shadow recurve and after trying a lil creep im really thinking hard between a lil creep or a bush bow next
I have owned several of the Great Northern Bushbows and they are phenomenal bows. My goal is to get a shorter longbow for tree stands and ground blinds without giving up forgiveness. On paper, the forward handle Toelke Pika with a higher brace height sounds like it would fit the bill but, the Classic look of a scaled down mild R/D longbow also looks promising. Tough decision for sure !
Pika is an exceptional bow. Quite, fast, and incredibly smooth at such a short length.
Have never shot a Great Northern Bow, so I honestly can't compare the two. I do though have two Pika's, and I can honestly saw it was the first lamanated bow I picked up that truly was a joy to shoot.
Thanks,
Hey Tim... What are the specs on your bows and are they the bow bolt ? If so, how do you like that takedown system ?
One is a single piece, 54"/60#@26", extremely smooth.
The other has the bolt, 52"/57#@26", it to is also very smooth to shoot. I wish I had both of them made at 60# each, on the second one the take down, I think I got a little weight shy, and had it made at a lesser weight :dunno:
Thanks,
Not a lil'creep, but I have two 58" GN gritter gitter special's, one with the jacknife and one without. I draw about 27.5". No noticeable difference in shootability between the two, noise or anything, they both draw smooth and shoot great. Jerry knows how to make short longbows for sure.
I have a 56" GN ghost too, another excellent bow. These GN's are easily some of best bows I've ever owned. Not much bling wise, but craftsmanship and performance are superb.
