I was wondering if anyones ever seen a longbow made of all aluminum. My cousin just got one it looks to be pretty old.The limbs are sandwiched between the two riser pieces, front and back. The riser is anodized blue and the limbs are brushed aluminum. The tip ends of the limbs are slightly reflexed.Just wondering if anyones ever seen anything like it,it looks like some type of "survival weapon".Shoots like a survival weapon too, terrible. But we shot heavy woodies of it.No name or any other print on it.Id appreciate any info and Ill have him send me pics of it.Thanks
neve heard of it but being a machinist i am now intrigued you just got my brain started
Sounds like a Grimes. As fun as they are to shoot I would recomend that you don't The reasonthey quit building all AL bows is that the AL will fatigue and break without ANY warning.
I don't have any pictures of mine, butyou're decription is right. Tru Temper made one too.
Wear a helment and face shield :biglaugh: ...Van
Many years ago I attened an indoor shoot. A gentilman shot with a LB made of alum., limbs and riser that he made. I asked him how it shot and he said ok it was just something he made to play with. I will say it was diff. looking. Alan
Sounds like the one I was watching on Ebay...first one like that I'd ever seen. I have seen other aluminum bows but most had an aluminum lamination in the middle sandwiched between other stuff.
Yup, fun to look at, can be real dangerous to shoot. Aluminum fatigues and then breaks nice and sharp. Several different folks had them out at one time and they all stopped production due to the breakage rate.
Make Sure You have Excellent Health Insurance!! Sounds like a Wall Hanger to me!!
