I'm heading to eastern WY in mid August. I've got a private ranch to hunt with quite a few antelope. As far as tactics go, I'm going to place a ladder stand on a windmill, if possible, and set a ground blind on another. Lastly, I'm going to use my MAD Commandelope decoy to stalk if the water is unproductive.
Sounds like a great plan.I'd love to figure out a place to put up a tripod or other elevated stand. We don't have any narrowed down water sources as pivots are still operating at that time and they can water anywhere in a huge field, that they want.
My tactics, although not really good to this point, have been waiting on your phone call and invitation!
i have an unit 10 AZ tag. I will be stalking and using decoys.
Aug 15 not coming soon enough. I have 3 tags this year. Blind on water hole has always been very productive for me. My third tag is new area and may have stalking chances lots of contour right at the base of some mountains, and the top section of the ranch has lots of large rock formations to use for stalking. My brother back in Nov talked me into the eclipse here in WY., I agreed till I got two antelope tags in my favorite area. Going to watch the eclipse from my blind instead of Glendo State Park.
Not going til Sept 16th, decoying during the rut
Still debating if I'm going to go? Need to get in some more elk scouting, There's not enough time!
