Title: Bitten by a FOX
Post by: 1/4 away on July 12, 2017, 11:17:00 AM
High Sierra that is.....about a month ago I received a new to me Fox High Sierra but due to some health issues was unable to shoot it right away. Well, I've been shooting it for about 3 weeks now and all I can say is WOW!!   Not only does is the grip the best I've ever felt in a 3 piece recurve but it draws extremely smooth and stacks the arrows where I point them. Initially I was concerned because at 48#@28" with my 29+ inch draw it was at the upper level of my comfort zone and thought I was going to need some lighter limbs but this bow is soooo smooth that I don't think it I'll need them.  I don't know what took me so long to try a Fox, but I've definitely been bitten.

Ron builds some sweet bows, I love the longbows.  The Fox grip is very very similar to both the Stalker and Wes Wallace standard grip, they melt into your hand.

Beautiful bow!
Stunning riser indeed!

I have lusted after the fox lineup since 2004.  Nearly every year at the Kalamazoo Expo I looked 'em over but the longbows seemed to dominate my focus.  Still do and I can't complain...  :p

I have had my High Seirra for 10 years and still love it.  Had a lighter set of limbs built for it so I can keep shooting it when age startd taking its toll.

Fred,
Sorry I was so long not responding to this thread and I thought you would like the Fox Sierras once you shot it a few times.
The one I have I had traded a Whip for to Shortdraw about 7 years ago I guess and something about the grip really makes these bows comfortable in the hand and as you said "Smooth as silk " on the drawing with what feels like an easy transition to the point of any "stacking"!
Some bows seem to come to a point you feel it stacks suddenly but these High Sierra's just feel like they "softly" let you know it's there if you know what I mean.
My bow is 43# and folks thinks it's heavier by the way it shoot's an arrow . Not sure what the speed is but it's plenty fast.
Yours looks really awesome with that Boa quiver on it and just the right size if you ask me.
I guess that is your Lucky tree and wasn't the one you lost a few years ago lol.   :goldtooth:

Love the High Sierra bows. I've been hunting with mine for almost 10 yrs. now.  Cocobolo riser with two yellow fenolic stripes and Ron's  signature  bamboo limbs. 58" and 55#'s at my 27" draw. Smooth drawing and smoking fast.

That is a nice looking bow, Ron King makes some masterpieces for sure.
Great to see the love and support that he has on this and other forums, as he does make buying a custom bow a great experience in My opinion.
But...As you can see by the number of Fox Bows on my rack that I am Bias  :)

Ron makes a sweet bow, and is great to deal with. He fixed me up with a Triple Crown that was as smooth as butter.
