What would be a good riser wood to go with black and white ebony? im getting a footed riser anyone have pics and suggestions?
Gaboon ebony is good as it is solid black and would contrast nicely. Leadwood is even heavier and a deep dark chocolate brown and would also contrast nicely and be warmer. It really depends on how busy you want the bow to look. Ziricote would be a neat look mixed with B&W ebony, as would Myrtle if you like less mass. Also I think I mentioned on another thread Jim can incorporate G10 into the riser and cut them past center if you desire now.
My Buffalo is half black glass and half B/W ebony.
If it has a beaver tail you will not see much of it.
macasar ebony , I know he has some
The best thing to do is ask Jim he will point you in the right direction if you tell him the look you want.
What about a stained Birdseye maple or maybe even tiger stripe.
Ask Big Jim, he has a good eye for what looks good.
I had a similar dilemma when I ordered my first Blacktail, trying to decide what the footed wood would be. The rest was cocobolo. Ebony? Myrtle? Wenge? Bacote? I finally decided to do the footing in the same wood, so I got the detail work of the footing laminations and an all cocobolo bow with myrtle accents.
