I've never done very many whitetail hunting seminars in the southern U.S. so I wanted folks to know I'm scheduled to do an approximate three hour educational whitetail seminar on Friday evening, August 11th at the Ruston Civic Center in Ruston, LA from 6PM until 9PM. The cost is only $5. presented by the Whitetails Unlimited organization. It might be a cheap date for anyone interested. Hope to see you there. BW
Barry,
I enjoyed your down to earth seminars in Michigan. Good stuff! (and a tad bit entertaining to boot)
Man that is great! I can't wait, only live about an hour from Ruston. Thank you sir for coming south. Looking forward to meeting you.
Charlie :campfire: :archer2:
Barry not sure where you will be staying but if you need a Bed and good food I am about three hours from there.I will also for sure attend your seminar.Kip Manuel
Good deal guys. At $5. the price is right. Ha. You don't reckon it'll be hot and humid in Louisiana in August will it? bw
I'm only a couple of hours away, but I'm supposed to be out of town that week. :banghead:
Maybe my schedule will change and I will be able to go. Thank you for the heads up.
I'm in Vicksburg and hour and a half away. Looking forward to it !!!
Uncle Barry glad you are coming down won't miss it. Saw you and Gene do one in La many years ago at a quail farm. Jerry Simmons was there and another whitetail guy that I forgot his name. Wish Gene was down with you. I'll bring you some shrimp from the MS coast if you can get them back.
I was there to Mike..in Abita springs! Got the book by Gene signed by Barry and MR James...book...1990 or so...
The $5. admission fee includes finger foods too. Not bad! For more details and information call: Glenn Scriber at (318) 680-4658. I'm glad to hear you guys are considering the trip. Looking forward to it. Thanks. BW
Barry I looked that up and I see a banquet scheduled at that location on August 10 on a Thursday. Could one of the dates be wrong or is this two separate events. It is on the Whitetail Unlimited website but does not show anything for Friday. Hey Doug forgot we were all there together. I thought it was Roberts LA but you are probably right.
Yeah, two separate events. The banquet is Thursday evening Aug. 10th and the seminar is Friday evening August 11th. Call the number above if there's any confusion I guess. bw
TTT
I will be making the trip alone but at least it's just an hour and a half drive. I can't wait !!!

Not going to miss this. Will be coming from south west Louisiana area. First time to meet Barry in person, can't wait!
this will be a good one. It's been many years since I've seen Barry down south. A couple of us will make the three hundred plus mile trip from the coast to hear the whitetail wizard while he is still on the circuit.
I'm really looking forward to it. Will be my second time to meet Barry
I've been on the road the last three weeks (Idaho and Montana)and just got home last night. I was pretty remote and didn't have enough cell service to even get a time/date on the phone. As far as I know everything is still a go. Looking forward to seeing you LA boys. They tell me things are different in LA. Ha. BW
It's been great down here. Don't bring the hot temps with you !!
:)
Have a safe trip.
I am almost in the center of the state. If any one wants to meet me in the Alex.area or come to my house in South La.and drive up I can work it either way.Let me know if it works for anyone.Kip Barry you would be right at home in Louisiana unless a jealous husband was after you.If so all bets are off.
I'm in central Mississippi, about 3 hours away from Ruston, but I'll be making the trip with a couple of my buddies.
Looking forward to seeing you, Barry, and anyone else from Trad Gang!
I don't know how many have signed up so far for the seminar but if it's anything like the banquet they are having the night before it will be a lot because the banquet is showing sold out. I would get my tickets asap. This is less than a week away.
Where do you get tickets?
For ticket info call: Glenn Scriber at 318-680-4658. Bring cool/dry weather
Called him and reserved 5 tickets earlier today. He said even if they sell out they aren't going to turn anybody away.
Looking forward to it!
Hey Barry . When you guys coming back to the east coast . Pa nj ny area ?
We're on our way! Stuck in traffic in Vicksburg! I hope we're not late.
Well, the seminar didn't disappoint. Barry is full of whitetail knowledge. I could have listened for a couple more hours. Thanks Barry and look forward to reading your book! Also nice to meet the fellow trad gang guys.
What a night! That 3 hour drive was well worth it. I'd do it again tonight.
Thanks for hanging out with us and sharing a bit of your wealth of knowledge with us, Barry! We had a blast and learned a lot. Our oldest nephew Tyler has been talking about it all morning.
It was great to meet MarshChicken and BoHo also!
Great meeting you guys !! I've read the first three chapters already and am already applying it to my deer camp.
Barry thanks for bringing your first class act down south again. You have gotten better with age. Anyone within driving distance that did not come cheated themselves out of the best whitetail act going on. It was good to see some of the other Mississippi guys there and to make some new friends from Louisiana. Best six hundred plus mile trip I drove in quite a while.
Thanks for all the kind words. It was a pleasure meeting all you guys. I was very impressed with your famous southern hospitality.
By the way, Marsh Chicken, send your postal mailing address to my regular email address at: barrywensel@hotmail.com. Thanks. BW
p.s. Stay close to the A/C until the season opens. Ha.
You sure brought the heat Barry but it's all good. It's been cool all year so we got spoiled. The highs are only in the low 90's the next few days so it could be worse. Thanks again for coming and good luck this fall. God Bless.
oh wow! I'm kicking myself. How did I not know about this? I was only 30 minutes away. I guess I need to get on here more often. Would have loved to have been there. I believe the last time you were in LA was when you spoke for the Bayou State Bow Hunters Association.
It definitely was a great time!
For sure. Hopefully he can come back again sometime. Maybe even come in January when it's too cold to hunt Iowa. We can take him snipe hunting since that season doesn't close until feb 28 in MS.
