I'm a selfbow guy. I've only made and shot bamboo or hill cane arrows. Recently I have picked up a few old Bear recurves at some estate auctions. I would like to hunt deer with one of the FG bows this fall. I picked up a dozen Blemished shafts from Big Jim at the Tennessee Classic and finally got around to putting them together. I bare shafted them and found out they were weak spined. I ended up cutting 3" off before they would fly straight. I have 175g points on them. I wanted to use a heavy point for hunting. I wrapped the front of the fletching. I like a smooth transition into the feathers and I hate when they come loose. I burnt them into a shield shape. I fletched 6 with RW helical and 6 straight.

This is the bow I'll be hunting with. I was told it was a 1963 Grizzly. Someone added the skins and refinished it. It fits me very well.

Great stuff!! I like how you wrapped the fletching. Looks like a great hunting bow.
That is a rig ANYONE could be proud of. Love the skins and nice job on the arrows!
Fantastic looking stick and shafts! What did you use to wrap them?
I wrap my feathers with UV resistant outdoor thread. Its small diameter and very tough. After I wrap them I put a couple drops of super glue on the thread and rub it in. I do that 2 times.
From one Hoosier to another....Any deer should feel honored to fall to that setup! Very nice scrub-buster.
Good luck, Skychief
