i cant get any good flight bareshafting the 400 spine blems with my 50 lb bear, it keeps showing way a pretty good amount nock high no matter what point i use and nock left, theres no way a 400 spine is too weak for a 50 lb bow im wondering if my spine is too stiff and need a 500 spine? i put a 300 grain head on the fletched and they shoot very nicely
i also have a 3 rivers trad only shaft that is cut an inch shorter im still getting stiff reading with a 300 grain head and a 50 grain insert that nock does fit alot tighter then the blem, i even tried double nock set.
the trad only tunes good with a 225 head i get bullet flight with those that arrow is 29 inches long the blems are 30
i guess the diameter is wider then the trad onlys, if it moves the arrow further off center the arrow will act stiffer?
yes
My guess is the 500 would be better - I shoot .400 spine GT's out of my 60 - 65lb recurve with varying shaft length and point weight.
cut arrow down still getting continuous nock high nom atter what i do, do you think the inch shorter arrow is masking the hard tail left kick the 30 inch longer arrow had and still getting a false reading? ive tried moving nocking point nothing helps
I think for starters, your arrow is way to stiff
I also think your arrow shaft is too stiff. A 500 spine seems it would fit the bill better at that weight and length.
As for the nock high, some people cant ever get the nock-high reading to go away because of the way they place their fingers on the string and it creates downward pressure on the shaft. Ive actually seen a few guys at full draw and their arrow shaft was bending pretty far from the shelf back to the string.
Take a look at the video below...Ken Beck describes it well.

i second the Ken Beck video. I was one of those that toques the string with recurves. The giveaway is a callous on my third finger. I do two things, went to a tab for awhile to teach my fingers how to line up straight on the string. I use a raised rest. It's just a brush rest modified to sit close to the shelf but it makes life a lot simpler.
I have a few Bears, TD's and SK. 45-55#. I use the 500 spine blems. I like a 490-500 grain arrow and 500 spine fits my ticket.
Yes, it will work on Elk
yes they are stiff
To stiff
I see that you have been asking lots of questions here as of late (good thing) which makes me think that you are fairly new to this stuff, if that is the case you may not have your form and release dialed in yet. Without these two items being where they should be you will never be able to bare shaft tune. I speak from my own experience. Hope this helps.
i have good form and release, just ask for tips to get better and better, there clearly is a spine issue with that setup, i ordered some 500s to try
FF or B50 string.
my bear grizzly with FF tunes to a 400 spine at 29 1/8" 225 up front.
If i switch to a B 50 string the 400's are way stiff. 500's tune better with the same 225 head.
ff its a super grizzly
For help in the bare shafting, The 15/35s(600) spine at 52lbs. The 35/55s(500)spine 63lbs and the 55/75s(400)spine at 73lbs. Just giving a starting point.
(http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq136/bloodtrailer7/DSC02705_zpsg7g3qfqq.jpg) tuned bare shaft robinhooded into a fletched Dale Dye 48@26(I draw 27=51) ff string 12 strand 1535 blem gt trad 28 1/2 w 1inch ft 2117 50grn insert and 175 fld pnt 20yrds. depending on your draw length you should be (600 or 500)
