Anyone know of a source for inexpensive, small, foam targets? I have used a Bullfrog target from Dink's for 4 years, but he has finally bit the dust. This is for my school archery team and I don't want to spend too much. (I'd rather save the money for a larger 3D target.)

check the local farm supply store such as Rual King, Tractor Supply, Big Red R....when they ship trailers they us a block or foam as spacer, it is about 12x12x18. they are free or about a buck each. I get a couple and tie or tape together and shoot till they fall apart. Cheap and last me about A year before I replace

Not foam, but does a great job. Compressed straw bail, which is about the size of a foam block and cost $10.99 at Tractor Supply. I saw this on this forum and purchased and can't believe how well it works.
I use the Tractor supply foam sometimes as it gives a good read when bareshafting. They don't last long though. X2 on the compressed straw bale---for field tips you can get a lot of mileage out of one and the arrows don't even begin to shoot through them. They are a great value and hold up well if kept dry. I keep on in my pole barn and it gets almost daily use since I bought it 8 months ago.
Buy a 4'x8'x 3" thick styrofoam sheet from your local home improvement store. 2 layers will stop a broadhead just fine so cut in half for a deer, far less for a turkey, rabbit, etc. Spray paint whatever animal you want on it. If it's really small, just print out a photo on the computer & tack it on. Costs about $20 and lasts about 1 season. Works best with screw-in heads since you can remove the head before extraction. Glue-ons tear them up much faster.

My kids have a bag of foam blocks to play with. We sometimes shoot at them with my daughter's suction cup arrows in the living room. No reason they couldn't be tossed out in the yard for target practice! I'm not sure what the whole bag cost and they aren't shaped like any critters, but there are several sizes, shapes, and colors to make it fun. Just don't let the kids know!

I remember reading somewhere that pop bottles (20 oz, 2 Lt, etc) and spray-foam works well. I haven't tried it, but I've been meaning to..
The other thing is, you can get a "crossbow discharge" target which is a small bag target (yellow Jacket I think) on Amazon for 12 bucks.
You said low budget, so using a fat Magic Marker draw small animal or bulls eye outlines on on the sides of a cardboard box packed tight with waste foam/rags/whatever. Paint to suit your fancy (or not). Very easy to make, easy to see, works well on the back lawn, easy to recycle, stops arrows well and it's about as cheap as you can get. Could also use empty feed sacks, dog food or cat litter bags, etc., to hold the filler materials.
For my wife's mounted archery program we use 9 of the TSC foam blocks shrink wrapped together. They make a roughly 4'x4' target. Stack the long sides against each other three rows of three tall. With the square ends exposed, it makes for easy tic tac toe games in the ground practice. They are also lightweight and easily moved. They stand on their own without a need for a separate tripod type stand.
They have three large targets (27 blocks) that have seen almost two years of use.
