For two years my wife has been training to be a yoga instructor. I spared no expense in helping her realize her dream and then we had some financial hardships. Now, she is a certified instructor and a licensed therapist and I am happily employed as well. So things are good, but I had a void to fill and traditional archery has become the best medicine for that. So my wife returned the favor and gave me the greenlight to get what I wanted to pursue my passion for traditonal bowhunting.
And this is what I have either got or ordered:
58" Bodnik Slick Stick 40# at 28"
54" Toelke Pika - 55# at 26" - Black Micarta Riser and Brown Glass
56" Mad Dog Prairie Predator 45# at 26" - Hickory Riser with Green Glass
60" Omega Original 40# at 26" - Red Oak Riser stained Ebony with Green Glass
These bows were chosen based on the comments and reviews made here in Tradgang as well as the advice from gentlemen I consider to be friends that I also met here. Three are custom bows and I am happy to support the fine bowyers who are currently making them and I intend to purchase more bows from other bowyers on here when time and finances permit.
That said, I know there is no substitute for shooting and practicing to be the best archer and bowhunter I can be, but having great equipment has always been a good source of inspiration for me in everything I have ever pursued. A great bow does not make a great bowhunter. I still have much to learn and many thousands of arrows to shoot.
Thanks for sharing in my happiness and for promoting this fine sport and welcoming me into it.
PS - I really, really like longbows.
Lol! Brother...if you can't get it done with that line up...it just ain't gonna happen! Lol!
Hey dont feel too bad. I've gotten 2 Prairie Predators from Maddog Mike and a Toelke whip all in a lil over a year!
There are far worse ways to go a little crazy!
Enjoy the good times, and enjoy your fine equipment!
Shouldn't have ordered that Omega. All the others are just going to gather dust :biglaugh:
All kidding aside, enjoy the ride!
Enjoy!
Congrats. Sometimes we just have to wait a little while
"a little"...ya think, lol? And just so I don't sound like Debbie Downer, the upside is she'll have little interest in these when division of property time comes and will zero in on the kids, house, cars, etc......just kidding, enjoy. If it'd been my wife the jury would have given her a pass and had me dug up so she could shoot me again!
Glad you joined the club!
I just ordered two in less than two weeks!
I'm proud to be part of your spending spree, I'm making your bow next week BTW.
Haven't we all?????
Enjoy!
:scared: :scared: :scared:
Love posts like this one. It takes away much of my guilt!! We have to all do our part in keeping the economy going! Looks like some good choices to "start"!
