Post by: Alvey on May 30, 2017, 10:19:00 PM
What's a good battery pack to take on a week long Backpack hunt to charge my phone?

Just get a cheap one from walgreen or somewhere, charge it up, works good for me.

Might want to consider a solar charger. I used one at a couple shoots and it worked great.

The best battery pack is one that doesn't work.  If I drain my battery on a hunt well I'm really not hunting.  I'll keep mine shut off unless I need to call the wife and kids and it gets cut back off.

In Cohutta and South Carolina and South Georgia where I hunt at times there's not any cell service ...got to love that
... back to the old childhood days when we weren't  slaves to the cell phone.

I go hunting to get away from the world ....isn't  that the whole purpose?

Terry,Certainly like the idea of being removed from the world on my hunting trips! since it will be my first backcountry solo hunt I'm taking some precaution for my piece of mind. I like keeping things simple ,I can store all my reading material on my phone.Im the first one to Admit I'm not the shrewdest out doors man out there, there for I will take some precaution till develop more confident s

I'm with you, Alvey.  I usually download a few archery classics for reading especially if I'm alone which is often.

I also use my phone for navigation.  Don't need it to find the way but with a bogus leg it has often kept me from getting into terrain that I can't manage.  Don't have to turn it off to shut out the world cause there is no service. It's kept in airplane mode to conserve battery.    :)
